Trish King was with the Marin Humane Society in the San Francisco Bay for over 20 years and has done thousands of consultations. Trish says “I’ve always found that one of the best ways to learn is by experience; and, though you would think we work mostly with dogs, we actually don’t.” Trish will teach you how she does a live consultation and the importance of the primary consultation to discover what is going on with the dog and the client. The first consultation allows you to learn what the client has tried, what they have not tried and what they are willing to try, as well as what the behavior problems are.
Trish will use go through the progression she’s found most effective, then do an actual consultation with an attendee, albeit without the actual dog. To accomplish this, we need an attendee who is having serious behavioral issues with their own dog (no client dogs, please!). So, if you’d like the opportunity to have a one-on-one consultation with Trish King, this is your chance! After you’ve enrolled in the course, please e-mail Sue (firstname.lastname@example.org) with a short synopsis of your problem – one paragraph, no more than 100 words. Sue will screen the entries and forward them to Trish. Trish will pick one person to interview, and an alternate. She will contact these two people prior to the course via e-mail.
