PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Psychotherapist/Clinical Social Worker.  Oberlin, Ohio.  1990-Present.
Provide individual, couple and group psychotherapy for adults.  Specialize in chronic/ terminal illnesses, lesbian/ gay issues, family/interpersonal relationships, and working with trauma survivors.  Integrate holistic healing modalities including relaxation/ guided imagery, meditation, pet therapy, creative arts, and movement techniques.  Collaborate and refer clients to outside practitioners including body-energy workers, naturopaths, art/dance/physical therapists, Reiki healers, acupuncturists, EMDR specialists and psychiatrists. Specialization in providing assessments for individuals qualified for Psychiatric Service Dogs and  educational material, in collaboration with service dog trainers. Specialization in accessing and providing assistance with clients partnered with Psychiatric Service Dogs.

Teach six week course based on the principles of an ancient Chinese healthcare practice.  Instruct participants in techniques of gentle movement, mental focus, meditative stillness and natural breathing.  Daily practice can reduce stress, accelerate healing and increase vitality, focus and creativity.

Facilitated comprehensive AIDS psychoeducational sessions for county detention centers.  Provided staff consultation and training.  Position funded by psychological services grant.

Social Worker/Counselor.  The Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland.  Cleveland, Ohio.  1988-1990.
Provided individual and group counseling services focusing on chronic/terminal illness, HIV pre and post-test counseling, relationships and discrimination issues.  Assisted in grant writing, program planning, research, staff development and public relations.  Coordinated a major corporate fundraising campaign resulting in increased annual donorship.   Assisted in organizing the “Heartstrings Benefit” co-sponsored by the Western Reserve AIDS Foundation and the Design Industries Foundation for AIDS.
